Gasoline or diesel? Know the difference

The two ranges are formulated for different fuels and different engine problems. They are not interchangeable.

Gasoline Range
Engine
Spark ignition – gasoline 80 / 92 / 95
Key fuel property
Octane – resistance to knocking
Typical problems
Injector deposits, rough idle, knocking, ethanol moisture
Dose
1 bottle (350 ml) per tank up to 60 L
Hazard class
Flammable liquid
Do not use in
Diesel engines
Diesel Range
Engine
Compression ignition – diesel (solar)
Key fuel property
Cetane – ignition quality
Typical problems
Injector coking, black smoke, hard cold start, pump wear
Dose
1 bottle (350 ml) per tank up to 80 L
Hazard class
Combustible liquid

Gasoline engines
For petrol engines – 80 / 92 / 95

Gasoline Range

Gasoline engines depend on a clean, precise injector spray and on fuel that resists knocking. The SOLVAR gasoline range keeps injectors clean, restores performance, raises octane and protects against ethanol-related problems.

For diesel engines – common-rail & conventional

Diesel Range

Diesel engines ignite fuel by compression, so ignition quality (cetane), injector cleanliness and fuel lubricity matter most. The SOLVAR diesel range cleans injectors, boosts cetane and protects the high-pressure pump.

For gasoline and diesel engines

Engine Care

Complete the programme at service time: clean the oil circuit before every oil change and the cooling system before every coolant change.

Radiator Cleaner

With the engine cold, add the bottle to the radiator, run 10 minutes with the heater on maximum, let it cool, drain, flush with clean water and refill with fresh coolant.

Engine Flush

Warm the engine, add the bottle to the old oil, idle 10 minutes (do not drive), drain while warm, change the filter and refill.

How to use – fuel additives

1

Switch off the engine.

2

Pour the whole bottle into the tank before refuelling – the fuel flow mixes it.

3

Fill up: up to 60 L gasoline or up to 80 L diesel.

4

Drive normally until the tank is nearly empty – the treatment works while you drive.

Safety first

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • If swallowed: do NOT induce vomiting – call a poison centre or doctor immediately.
  • Keep away from heat, sparks and open flames. No smoking while refuelling.
  • Add only to the fuel tank (or as directed) – never to engine oil unless it is Engine Flush.
  • Never mix the ranges: gasoline products go in gasoline engines only, diesel products in diesel engines only.
